Can I Change My TorBox Email?

In short: No, we don't allow changing your TorBox email for any reason!

While we understand that flexibility is important at TorBox, but for security and operational reasons, we do not allow users to change the email associated with their account.

Account Security

The primary purpose of your email is to serve as your unique identifier. Allowing email changes introduces potential risks, such as unauthorized changes, unauthorized access, or phishing attempts. If a hacker gains access into your account (maybe from an API key), they are not able to change the email, making recovery easy.

Preventing Fraud and Abuse

Preventing email changes combats fraud, such as changing to disposable emails, or changing from disposable emails. This also prevents masking abusive behavior, which is not acceptable on TorBox.

Integrity of Linked Services

Your account email is used for our payment providers, notifications, and other services here on TorBox (some of which may not be seen to the naked eye). Changing account emails can disrupt these connections leading to potential errors, or a misconfiguration.

Simplified Support

With a fixed email policy, our team can more effectively handle support requests, ensuring a consistent, reliable process to verify identity without complications that could arise from email changes.

What You Can Do Instead

If you have a TorBox subscription, cancel it through Sellix, or PayPal, and wait for your premium time to run out. Subscriptions are not able to be transferred between accounts. Create a new account under the email you want, and begin downloading and paying through the new account. While you may lose your downloads (they are easy enough to add back), statistics, and previous credentials, this ensures the system is always accurate and not affected by any issues that may arise through email changes.
