To keep TorBox safe, there are some restrictions.

Updated over a week ago

As a freemium service, TorBox puts limits and restrictions on the content that is downloaded through it. Things such as size limits, concurrent downloads limits, and connection limits, which allows TorBox to continue functioning without "any" hiccups. Here are some of the limits imposed depending on your plan.

Different to other debrids, TorBox's biggest limit is the number of downloads you can have downloading or seeding at a time. Your account comes with a general "Allowed Active Slots" limit, which determines how much you can have "Active" at a time. Upgrading your plan, or purchasing addons allows you to increase this limit.

Free Plan

The Free plan is available for everyone to try out TorBox, or even use it for small torrents. There are restrictions with this, so that TorBox isn't abused. If you find you enjoy the service on the free plan, try out a paid plan, they are way better!

  • You can only add 1 download every 24 hours. This means that after you add a torrent, you have to wait 24 hours before you can add another one. This is your "cool down".

  • You can only have 1 download active at a time. If your download expires after your cool down has finished, meaning you can technically start another download, you can't until you remove the current download. This applies to all downloads that are not Inactive.

  • You can only add 10 downloads per month. This means that per month, every torrent you add will take away one from your allowance per month. You can use them all in the first 10 days of the month, all in the last 10 days of the month or you can spread them out throughout the month.

    • This is a rolling limit. If you add one on April 1st, then add one on April 10th, then on May 1st, you will still only have 9 downloads left. If you then add one on May 10th, you will still have 9 downloads left. If you don't download any more torrents, on June 10th, you will have 10 downloads left.

    • In simpler terms, TorBox counts downloaded torrents in the preceding 30 days as your total.

  • Torrents downloaded can only have a max size of 10GB. Sometimes torrents on clients or trackers will show 10GiB which is different than GB. 10GiB = ~11GB which is too high so your torrent will be deleted. You will get a notification about it, but your torrent will simply "disappear". It is always safe to go a bit underneath the limit, just in case.

  • Torrents will not seed at all. Once the download is complete, the torrent will simply show as cached.

  • No private torrents are allowed on the Free plan. Even leeching is not possible. If the torrent is marked as private, it will not be downloaded on the Free plan.

  • No access to web downloads or Usenet downloads.

Essential Plan

The Essential plan is a lot like the Free plan, except for the fact you get 3 active downloads at the same time, unlimited monthly downloads as well as larger max torrent sizes. The rest of the things are the same, and the new things can be inferred.

  • No download cool down. As long as you don't go past the 3 active torrents, you can add as many downloads as you want.

  • Unlimited cached downloads.

  • 3 Active downloads. Instead of 1 concurrent downloads, you can have 3. Pretty sweet!

  • 200GB max torrent size, rather than 10GB! That's 20x more for only $3!

  • Access to web downloads.

  • No access to Usenet downloads.

Standard Plan

The Standard plan is a lot like the Essential plan, except you get 2 extra active slots, and more seeding time. Everything else is the same. This is best for users interested in private trackers, as most trackers require 2 weeks or more of seeding.

  • No download cool down. Same as the Essential plan, as long as you don't go past the 5 active torrents, you can add as many as you like.

  • Unlimited cached downloads.

  • 2 week seeding time. After 2 weeks of seeding, the torrent will be removed from the seeding servers. The file will still be cached and available for download, but it will no longer seed. This is a good plan if you have private torrents that require more seeding, but don't want the Pro plan.

Pro Plan

The Pro plan is the best plan on TorBox and allows the most freedom regarding restrictions.

  • 30 day seeding time, 30 day expiry time. Once your torrent finishes downloading and the files are marked available, the 30 day countdown begins. Like every other plan, after the 30 day timer ends, torrents are cached like normal.

  • 10 active torrents, which allows you a total of 10 concurrent downloads.

  • 500GB per torrent allowance, which allows you to download torrents that are up to 500GB. This is huge for people who want to download large torrents that contain batches of episodes, music, moves, etc.

  • Access to Usenet! Download files at insane speeds with no limits!
