Downloading entire folders of content through TorBox using our on-the-fly zip feature is nice to have, but you may experience reduced download speeds to your system. Here are a few reasons why:
There may be a lot of files contained inside. The more files that we need to contain inside of the zip file, the more time it will take to download, not just because of the total size, but due to the size of the individual files.
Zips do not allow multiple connections. TorBox's CDN when you download individual files, allow you to use up to 16 connections per file, which maximizes your download speed. Zips cannot use multiple connections due to how they are generated.
Zips can only be downloaded from our main storage servers in the WNAM and WEUR regions. If you are in a region far away from the storage server, you may experience reduced download speeds.
Zips require a lot of compute to create, and in times of high load, the server will prefer serving our CDN servers, rather than serving your zip download, forcing you to experience slower than expected download speeds.
Keep in mind that cancelling the download, pausing the download, or disconnecting will force you to start downloading from the beginning. This cannot be changed, so make sure you have a strong and stable connection. If this is not possible, you may use the WebDAV to easily transfer entire folders from TorBox.
