The TorBox Partners Program, allows anyone to monetize their community, by reselling TorBox accounts or vouchers to their users, allowing you to make a profit by getting a discount from us! This program is application only, and you are expected to already have a product/community/project in production and have users. We do not on-board projects with zero users, or have not yet used TorBox at all.
Below is everything you need to know about joining the Partners Program, as well as FAQ that you may have.
The Application Process
TorBox is quite strict on the projects/products/communities that can resell TorBox services for a multitude of reasons.
Preventing diminished TorBox image due to sketchy, illegal, or low effort projects.
The Partner's Program is meant for already established projects, we are not interested in developing your software for you, nor walking you through every step of integration.
Without large projects in our Partner's Program, the program is not profitable, so the need for larger user-bases is required, which is why smaller projects are not often allowed in.
Once you have established you are a good fit for the Program, there are few different sets of projects that you may be in, if you do not fall into any of these categories, you may not pass the on-boarding process.
Highly custom projects. You are expected to be highly technical and should know how to use the TorBox API and services to integrate TorBox into your project.
Account managers. Account managers for a large number of user's is an accepted fit to the program. You simply would generate users, and give them their API tokens for use with already established 3rd party applications.
Gift card/voucher reseller. You have a website which allows you to accept payments in exchange for vouchers/gift cards. This requires more stringent on-boarding, but is also an accepted use for the TorBox Partner's Program.
We are looking into resellers who can only use a single TorBox account/API token for their users. This is not fully supported as of now, but feel free to contact us.
Finally, a few other requirements:
For highly custom projects, or gift card/voucher resellers, we require a functional and professional website. This should have active support and contact information.
The TorBox account email that your vendor account is registered to must accept emails, for notices and invoices.
Once this is all in order, first sign up on the Partners website, and register your project. Then you may contact us with all the information above, fully explaining your project, any necessary links, socials, where your users come from, how many user's you currently have, how soon you can begin on-boarding, how many users you are expected to have within 6 months, and any other information we may feel is required to properly understand your project.
Once you are accepted into the Program, your account will be given a few users limit for you to test with. Once your tests have gone well, we will move your account to a full vendor, with unlimited users creation ability. Once you are a full vendor, you are expected to pay for your users month by month, until termination on either side.
How it Works
For account resellers, you are essentially sharing a subscription with all of your users. You users all share the same plan, and expiration date of your vendor account, (which is different from your TorBox account). When you register a user to your account they are instantly added to your account. If they are a new user, a password will be generated for them (returned in the API, not in the browser). If they are an existing user, their TorBox account time will now be linked with your vendor account.
What TorBox Provides
When you register an account under your vendor account, created is a fully functioning TorBox account, identical to one signed up on the TorBox website. This allows your users to use their account and API key for any third party application easily.
User's may use all of TorBox's features, dashboard, and applications using their API key.
FAQ
Q: What if I add an existing user who has a subscription to my vendor account?
A: Their current subscription will be overwritten with yours. If they cancel, they will be reset to a free plan, and are expected to contact our support to have their account reinstated.
Q: I signed up a new user, and I do not have their password.
A: They are automatically registered, with a password. If you are using the Vendor's API, the password will be returned in the API response when creating them. If using the Partner's dashboard, it will not be shown. Instruct the user to reset their password.
Q: I assumed I would have more to do in the Partner's dashboard.
A: The dashboard is very limited, and doesn't need to do much. It does necessary functions such as adding new users, deleting users and viewing user information. The user is expected to have full control of their account, which is why you cannot do things such as change settings. If you really need to manage a user's account, you must use the TorBox API with the user's API key.
Q: What if a user doesn't pay me?
A: You should remove them from your vendor account immediately. You will be billed for that user at the end of the month if not removed before invoice issuance. It is your responsibility to make sure that we, as the service provider, are paid. There is no negotiation on invoice amounts, and you are expected to pay within 7 days of issuing this invoice.
Q: What if I create 1000 users, then remove them the day before the invoice is issued, to bypass the payment?
A: We have systems that can detect major changes in your vendor account, anything that is out of the ordinary will be flagged, and your account will be terminated.
Q: Does my TorBox account need to have a subscription?
A: No, the Partner's Dashboard and vendor's API is fully usable with a free TorBox account.
Q: Can I reset a user's TorBox API key?
A: No, you must instruct them to reset it themselves from the settings page.
