The TorBox News server is something we previously offered years ago, but discontinued due to low usage and abuse. Now that TorBox has the systems in place to properly monitor bandwidth as well as a better and stronger overall system, we are offering this service once again at no additional charge for our Pro users!
The TorBox News Server allows you to directly download from the Usenet, which entirely bypassing TorBox as the middle man.
This means instant downloading/streaming, quicker overall download time, and higher reliability. Below, we have compiled a list of all the features.
Keep in mind that this service is on the newer side, but we will spend the time necessary to make sure it is easy and works well.
Features
Able to use 3rd party apps that work with usenet such as NZBHydra, SABNzbd, NZBGet, NZBDav, Usenet Streamer, Stremio and more!
Runs on separate servers to TorBox completely, meaning that even if TorBox is down you can still use our News Server, making it a good backup in times of maintenance or short outages!
Unlimited download speed. Download at more than 1GB/s+ (this is also 8gbps+), you can be sure that your downloads will complete as fast as you want.
3rd party tools exist that combine both TorBox and TorBox News together so that you never miss a beat.
Same functionality as other providers such as EasyNews, except it is included in your TorBox Pro subscription.
Downloads do not go through TorBox, which means that you don't have to wait to download to your own device and they instead begin instantly. This also means items will not be on your dashboard.
High retention rate of 3900+ days, meaning old and new files will be readily available.
Access to 134000 news groups. This extremely high number means that nearly any file you attempt to download will be available.
99.8% completion rate. For every 1000 articles you download (a chunk of a file), 998+ of them will fully download with no issues. Downloading older things close or past the retention rate may have a lower completion rate.
Cheap pricing. Included with your TorBox Pro subscription ($10/mo), you get access to all of Pro's features as well as our News server, all for $10 a month, making it a perfect option for those who want the best.
Anonymous and encrypted. Everything is TLS/SSL 256-bit encrypted, meaning that your ISP has no idea what you are doing and no need for a VPN. Our News Server also follow a strict no logs policy just like TorBox, meaning we don't know what you downloaded, just when and how much data you used at that time.
Easy authentication. Using your TorBox email and the provided password (encrypted and only shown once for security), you can easily login to the TorBox News server no matter where you are.
Important Information
Allows up to 10 connections per account.
Bandwidth is unlimited but is reported in your bandwidth usage, same as downloading or streaming.
No limit on devices/IPs, just like the rest of TorBox.
Items downloaded through the TorBox News Server do not show up on your dashboard and are not cached by TorBox.
Similarly to the above, items downloaded from our News Server are not downloaded through our CDN, meaning download speeds may be slower than TorBox's CDN.
Asides
If you experience slow download speeds, this can be due to a few reasons: 1. The NZB you are downloading is not yet cached on our News server and is being downloaded as you download from the upstream. 2. You may be physically far from the News server, which is located in the EU.
Downgrading or lapsing your subscription will deactivate your News server account.
